ReplyDeleteYou will definitely love her class! If you want to learn, get her. But if you are grade conscious, well, still, take her. :)) just a tip: write all that you know about the topic during quizzes. that will help. aaaaand! submit bonus papers. It will really pull up your grades.

I got her for INTFILO even though my friends told me there's a great chance of failing. But she's worth taking!! Seriously!! You'll DEFINITELY learn A LOT from her.
ReplyDeleteThere are no dull moments in her class! I agree that she's way waaaay better than the parish priest! Her lectures are persuasive but in the end, you still have the final say whether you'll be agnostic, atheist or whatever. Her lectures are really corrupting, but more than that, it will let you realize things in life. The Zen and stuff. But I wasn't one of those corrupted minds. I valued the lessons in life more than the God blah blah I still have my faith with me.
Her exams are hard, but it's all based on the lecture. You just have to study and UNDERSTAND her lectures. Take note even the slightest detail!! The jokes and stories, they'll be really helpful. RECORD HER LECTURES! She allows that. That would really be beneficial. She checks even the grammar and spelling, but she don't give deductions for that.
Oh, make sure to do all her bonus points! You just need a grade of 195 to get a 1.0 in her class. You have 3 exams so that's 300. From the reflection papers, you can get as high as 30pts and if you have perfect attendance, that's additional 10pts. Just get 195, and you'll pass. It is POSSIBLE to get a 4.0 in her class. Same goes for getting a 0.0 but you just have to exert effort. After all, her subject is WORTH studying!! She also returns paper late, so get used to it. She gave us additional 10pts because she gave the result of the 1st exam during the grade consultation. LOL =))
Just don't miss her lectures. Actually, you'll get addicted to her. You would want more knowledge on things. I really do encourage people to take her. Worth the tuition and worth the time!
If you really want to see how is she as a prof, you can sit in her class. She also allows that :) Just find a way to find her. LOL =))
She is the real deal. Your tuition will be worth it. She is the reason why you go to La Salle, excellent and energetic style of teaching, never boring, so many stories to tell. She is a "terror" prof though, although she is the complete opposite. It's easy to get a 0.0, if you don't pay attention to every detail. She only has 3 tests and you only need 195 points to pass. Take her!
ReplyDeleteI remember taking her INTPHIL before... it was take 2 for me (1st take was with Atty. Christopher Cruz). She never runs out of energy. She always uses her life as an example... especially her relationship with her step mom and the incident na binuhusan siya ng food or something. I never forget also yung trips niya to Japan... wherever she looks... puro boobs... pagtingin niya sa kanya... taghiyawat (or something like that). Her discussions were very interesting.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I failed her subject pero it was okay. Hinanap ko siya the following term (kasi sayang yung +20 for perfect attendance). Pumasa naman ako nung 3rd take... and that's my final subject in DLSU Manila.
Super galing niya... that's for sure.
Cannot even begin to explain to you about how she is the BEST PROFESSOR you can possibly get in DLSU! Her classes are amazing. You Will fail if you don't take down notes, but she's so interesting that you can't help taking down notes because you actually want to remember everything she's telling you.

ReplyDeleteAmazing professor. She mindraped and devirginized my mind. Grabe lang, life changing experience si Miss Velasco. Mindblowing lectures. For me, you really won't get bored because she makes her lessons interesting and uses her life as an example for certain philosophies to be taught. She's very animated and lively, you wouldn't want to miss a period with her.

She will not impose anything on you, she will make you think beyond limits. Grabe, she opened my mind! :)
You should listen and take down notes, as in everything. Recording the lectures is definitely a great help as you can take down more specific notes should you lack them.
Her exams are hard but manageable. Her exams are mostly essay type, although there are little identification. On her essay exams, what matters are the complete and specific answers. Sometimes you have to use the examples from the lectures to back-up some answers but as much as possible, keep it short and simple. Just make sure that the answers complete and specific.
What you work for is what you get, she will not adjust the final grade. She has 3 exams and the total of it will be your final grade plus the incentives she gives. She gives +10 for perfect attendance and other bonus point incentives. They help ALOT in pulling your grade.
Verdict: Do get her if you have a chance! Challenge yourself! Live dangerously. >:) Although I did not get a 4.0 myself, it is certainly possible to get a 4.0 from her! :)
She really is the best ever! Previous posts explain things well, but I don't think anyone can really say just how amazing she is, you'll have t attend her classes! I got a 4.0 with her, so it really is possible too get good grades from her. Your Taft life won't be complete without her!!! SHE'S THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteShe is a powerhouse. Her quizzes are concise essay questions, but in order to have a high mark, you really really need to squeeze out all the information that you learned from her. She also gives out readings, which would help supplement your answers for the essays. Take down notes, and be sure to listen to her during class---but it's quite difficult not to listen to her since she's quite loud. She's incredibly funny, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat I loved about her the most, however, is her true 'educating' style: she discusses each topic passionately, making her looked biased, but she does so for each topic, and she doesn't impose her beliefs on the students. Also, she's quite perceptive of the random things in class.
Enroll in her class; if you fail to do so, HUNT HER DOWN and sit-in, she's awesome.

You will learn a lot from her, but it will be risky. Every section that she handles, may bumabagsak.
ReplyDeleteI passed her! You have to write down your notes with the exact words she uses during the lecture. then memorize and study talaga. Mahirap quizzes niya kasi its all essays except for the final exam. make your answers really complete and accurate kasi yun ang hinahanap niya. Its not impossible to pass her class. You will love miss velasco she loves what shes teaching kaya its very fun to listen to her. do all the extra papers it will really pull your grades up. take her! shes worth the tuition!

Got a perfect attendance, but I was not able to pass the exams :( medyo nagkulang ako sa pagreview ko. Anyway, She's still great. Very active, hyper, and blah. Just do well. Take down notes. Read the readings in advance :)
ReplyDeleteHanggang ngayon, hindi parin nawawala yung mga lessons that she imparted to me. I tell you that I was afraid to risk failing because of the stuff I hear from others. But, it wasn't really true! She's definitely not a terror and you'll definitely learn from her. Totoo, may bumabagsak sa class niya. Pero I think that's the part of the student na kasi responsibility nila yung makinig at mag-aral at mag-effort pumasa. She gives out bonuses and incentives to help students pass...so your call.
ReplyDeleteAlthough kaya naman pumasa without it (pangpataas siya ng grade and even save your soul to get a 1.0; although super interesting rin naman yung pang-incentives niya), my blockmates were able to get a 1.5! So kaya yan! :D
Tip sa exam niya: Write EVERYTHING. As in. Don't beat around the bush, get to the point. That will garner you full points.
